What is an ISSMA competition anyway?
We have been competing in invitationals so far this season. This Saturday, we switch gears and enter the ISSMA competition process. The Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) hosts regionals, semi-state, and state competitions for Indiana marching bands. There is a north regional and a south regional in Indiana. Noblesville participates in the north regional at Carroll High School. Ten open class A bands move forward from each regional to the semi-state competition. for a total of 20 bands in open class A at the semi-state competition at Ben Davis. From semi-state, 10 bands in open class A move forward to state finals at Lucas Oil stadium on Saturday, November 9th. We do not receive placements at ISSMA competitions. Instead, bands that are moving forward in each part of the process are announced at each event. Clear as mud? Feel free to ask your section parents if you have questions as we move forward with this exciting part of the season. We are in a VERY competitive class, so nothing is ever guaranteed!
